The corporate origins of SEDAŞ, which carries out electricity distribution activities in its business area of 19,500 km2 covering Sakarya, Kocaeli, Bolu and Düzce provinces, dates back to the Adapazarı Substation established in the early 1950s under Etibank. Due to the region's industrial structure, SEDAŞ which played an important role in the development of the Turkey electrification network, was taken over by AKCEZ Enerji Yatırımları Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş., the Akkök-CEZ Consortium on February 11, 2009 within the scope of the privatization in 2008.

One of the important projects on sustainability is SEDAŞ’s initiative to reduce the use of plastic bottles within the company. With this action, the plastic water bottle consumption was annually decreased by of 1.273.188. With the project, which has added value in terms of environmental awareness, attention was drawn to the reduction of plastic consumption, which is a global issue.
